From PR Grad to Full-Time Creator: My Life & New Blog in Downtown Toronto

Turns out, my biggest project after graduating with a PR degree wasn't finding a full-time job in the industry, but making my own creative career! And I am happy to say this is the official launch. While technically this all started in my third year of university, this new platform is where I'll be sharing the full, unfiltered experience of a 22-year-old content creator living and working in Downtown Toronto!

Maybe the journey started way back when I was in my first year of university? I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted something that was business-coded without doing Commerce, and I ended up going to school for Public Relations—it seemed like a glamorous, in-demand job. This past spring I graduated with an Honours B.A. in Public Relations from the University of Ottawa and a Diploma in Public Relations from Algonquin College—seven years of education in four!

The real pivot happened in my third year. I decided I wanted to work in social media and realized a good career move was to start building my own platform. I started my TikTok and was posting daily vlogs of my life as a college student. Now that I’ve graduated and I’ve been job hunting for six months, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity I created for myself, take social media more seriously, and turn it into my full-time job (at least while I am still figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life).

I grew up in Toronto, moved to Ottawa for school, and have now moved back to downtown Toronto! And although I did grow up in the city, I feel like I am experiencing living in Toronto for the first time—because I sort of am. I grew up west of Yonge and St. Clair, but I am now living right in the heart of downtown—walking distance from St. Lawrence Market, the CN Tower, and the Distillery District. Plus, being a kid in Toronto is very different than being a young adult in Toronto. My content has shifted from college day-in-my-life’s to me documenting my life living in Downtown Toronto—sharing my daily life and experiences. I wanted to start a blog to share things that I love about the city that just don’t fit into a 60-second video!

What You Can Expect on the Blog:

  • Creator Chronicles: The unfiltered reality of working as a full-time content creator.

  • Downtown Diaries: Documenting my daily life, experiences, and thoughts as a young adult in the city.

  • Toronto Treasure Hunts: Detailed guides on things I love about the city—from coffee shops you need to try to seasonal events you absolutely need to do!

I have so many ideas and so many things I want to share and do in the city! Thank you for being here for the very beginning of this new platform!

Let’s Talk: If you’re a local, what is one thing about Toronto you hope I cover first? Let me know in the comments below!
