Simple Vanilla Cake Recipe

My favourite cake recipe to make! This is adapted from a recipe that my grandmother shared with me awhile back. This is probably the simplest cake recipe, it’s also a one bowl cake recipe. I mix all of the wet ingredients then sift in all of the dry ingredients. This way I have less dishes to wash! Another thing I like is that this cake is not too sweet! I used to have a big sweet tooth but I don’t anymore for whatever reason so I like that the sugar is not overpowering.

Any way, here’s the recipe!

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon spoon vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ cup milk

 

Step 1: Gather all your ingredients and preheat the oven to 350°f. line a 9” x 13” pan with parchment paper

Step 2: In a large bowl whisk together the sugar, butter. Add the eggs one at a time then whisk in vanilla.

Step 3: Sift in the flour and baking powder and mix. Add in the milk and mix until it’s all combined.

Step 4: Add cake batter to the pan then bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

Step 5: Once cooled, decorate the cake and enjoy!

 

notes:

  • You can use this recipe to make 12 cupcakes, bake them for about 20 to 25 minutes.
