10 Low Creativity Hobby Ideas

I have lot’s of hobbies from knitting to beading to embroidery (and bead embroidery). But sometimes I want something to do that requires less creativity than those. Here are some fun hobbies that I have been enjoying over the past couple of weeks. I also wanted to focus on hobbies that make less of a mess because we can all agree that the worse part of any hobby or activity is cleaning up afterwards haha.

  1. Puzzles My sister got me into doing puzzles, we’ll buy one from Winners and set it up on the kitchen counter until it’s done then donate it to the thrift store before buying the next one.

  2. Sourdough Starter and Baking I started a sourdough starter in January and it took me three weeks (with feeding it everyday) to get it active. Now I store it in the fridge and only feed it before I want to bake a loaf, which also takes a full day to to.

  3. Journaling I love sitting down every couple of days to write about what has happend. Sometimes I also add photos and “junk” to my journal.

  4. Reading I love to read before bed to help me unwind for the night. My goal for 2026 is to read 15 books, i’m not a fast reader but I do tend to read a chapter or two every day.

  5. Colouring or Paint by Numbers if you are wanting to do something “creative” without needing to be creative, colouring books or paint by numbers are the way to go! Colouring is less messy and paint by numbers is less thinking because you follow the directions.

  6. Building a LEGO set I have had my eye on the LEGO botanicals sets for a while. Building LEGOs is the perfect hobby because you follow directions so you don’t have to think much. I would probably suggest finding an easier LEGO kit though.

  7. Needlepoint Kit another good hobby because you keep everything organized in little pouches but also you follow the design on the canvas.

  8. Logic Puzzles I love taking a few minutes here and there to work on a word search or a crossword puzzle. I keep a book or logic puzzles in my tote bag and will pull it out whenever I’m bored instead of scrolling on my phone. There are also tonnes of logic puzzle apps that make this more commute friendly.

  9. Making Coffee I love elevating my morning coffee my treating my coffee station like my own personal coffee shop! I love trying new coffee recipes and menus for my “at-home cafe”. This is the perfect hobby that fits in your daily routine.

  10. Hiking I personally don’t like going to the gym and probably won’t run a marathon… but I love going for long walks and listening to music. Now take that and put it in nature and you have the perfect hobby! Plus a great escape form reality for a bit.
