What’s on my Desk: January 2026

Welcome to the first monthly recap!

I wanted to start a “series” where I can document all of my craft projects from the month! Plus a few of the highlights of the month — some things I did, maybe coffee shops that I tried and general favourites that I want to document.

What I made this month

Leather Journal Cover

I ended up on leather journal TikTok and decided to make my own! It was the perfect afternoon craft. It took me only a couple of hours to make BUT I will say it is definitely not a condo-friendly craft because punching the holes and installing the grommets is kind of loud… but now I have a beautiful leather journal cover that cost me a fraction of the price of the Louise Carmen or Paper Republic journals. I bought most of the supplies on amazon, notebooks from Indigo and charms from Michaels.

Sophie Shawl

I actually started working on this in November of last year and I took my two months to finish. But I finally finished my second knitting project! It’s a gift for my mom and I am so happy that I was finally able to give it to her!

Tromsø Hoodie (Current Knitting WIP)

This is a free pattern that I got from Ravelry and I am so excited to finish it so I can wear it! (And tell people that I made it myself!)

A Couple Small Projects…

I made some punch cards to track some of my 2026 goals and resolutions. I made three punch cards; one to track my reading goals, on for no spend days and one for all my knitting projects I finish. I also want to get into felt and bead embroidery. I made a felt fish and I am still in the process of making my first bead embroidery project.

Other January Highlights

This month my sister and I got annual memberships to the Art Gallery of Ontario. We walked around a bunch of different galleries including Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirror Room which was absolutly beautiful. There is exhibit coming in February so we will be back soon!

I was reunited with my sewing machine after 5 years! I lent it to my mom’s friend in March of 2020. I bought fabric the other day to make a tote bag and a shoulder bag and cant wait to get back into sewing!
