Time for a (much needed) Closet Clean Out

I finally got to work on two (yes, not one but TWO!) things that I have been putting off for way too long: tackling my closet AND going through all my clothes. For the past year my closet has been used to store a whole bunch of random junk. Mostly because it didn’t have any place to store my clothes but also because it was an easy place to throw things that I didn’t want to deal with or things that I didn’t have a proper place to store them.

Phase One: Cleaning out my Closet

As mentioned, my closet was filled with a bunch of random junk. Emptying it was the easy part. The hard part was finding proper places to put all of those things — but I pulled through! I’ve actually decided that my closet clean out is just the start of a bigger bedroom re-organization project. And my focus right now was to empty out my closet so my dad could build some shelves and hand some closet rods. My dad did a great job putting my closet together! I am really happy with how it turned out.

Phase Two: Going Through all my Clothes

The second thing that I wanted to do was to go through all my clothes and get rid of anything that I didn’t feel good in. I think it is super important to feel good in the clothes that you wear and I had a lot of clothes that just didn’t make me feel good. Plus I wanted to make space for some new clothes — it’s fun to refresh your closet every once and a while! I originally made three piles; keep, maybe and no. The keep pile went right into my closet and the no’s will be donated. And the maybe pile I ended up trying on again and deciding if I want to keep or donate it. To be honest, I ended up donating most of my clothes.

Phase Three: Filling my Closet

The last step was to put everything in my closet and I made this a lot harder than it needed to be. Instead of just putting everything into my closet I took a photo of everything first. And then I put it into my closet. I want to create a database of all my clothes so I can a) keep track of all the clothes that I own and how often I wear them. And b) so I can plan my outfits! I am still working on the database but I promise I will share it once its done and tested.

This was a really fun project to work on and I am really happy that it’s done. But anyway, that’s it! Love you, bye!
